My answer to What is more painful, not being loved back or not loving them back?
Answer by G Ross Clark:
Answer – Not being loved back
When we open our tender hearts to others, we risk the painful experience of not being fully loved back.
This takes courage!
If we trust that not being fully loved back a common human experience. We can go inside our-self and ask, what are my deepest needs.
1- Inquiry Exercise
When we are feeling grounded and open we can gently ask.
“What is it that I need”
“What do I really need”
2- Intention Exercise
Know what we really need, we set the intention for getting it.
“may I be safe”
“may I be loved”
Because we now know what it is that we need, we can gently repeat it often in our conscious mind. repeating our intentions in a caring way, informs the un-conscious mind. Slowly we will learn and practice new ways of getting our deepest needs met.
